P20 Powder Chopped Strand Mat is made of randomly distributed chopped E-glass strands held together by a powder binder. It is compatible with unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resins.
P20 is has the advantages of good conformability to molds, allowing for no springback at small angles. It is mainly designed for use in hand lay-up process to produce FRP parts with complex shapes. It can also be used to make FRP models and other common FRP parts.
Product performance introduction
Emulsion Chopped Strand Mats P20
The Emulsion Chopped Strand Mats P20 is a high-performance, chopped strand mat (CSM) designed for use in a variety of industrial applications. This product features a unique emulsion-based manufacturing process, resulting in a mat with excellent wet-out properties, high mechanical strength, and improved durability.
Key Features:
- Emulsion-Based Manufacturing: The P20 mat is produced using an emulsion-based process, which involves combining glass fibers with a proprietary emulsion to create a strong and uniform mat.
- Improved Wet-Out: The emulsion-based process enables excellent wet-out properties, allowing the mat to easily absorb and distribute resin evenly throughout the composite.
- High-Strength Chopped Strands: The P20 mat features high-strength chopped glass strands that provide excellent mechanical properties, including tensile strength, impact resistance, and durability.
- Medium Areal Weight: The P20 mat has a medium areal weight, making it suitable for applications where a balance between weight and mechanical strength is required.
- Easy to Handle: The P20 mat is easy to handle and transport, reducing labor costs and improving production efficiency.
- Good Drapeability: The P20 mat has good drapeability, making it suitable for applications with complex geometries.
Technical Specifications:
- Areal weight: 400-500 g/m²
- Thickness: 1.5-2.5 mm
- Chopped strand length: 25-50 mm
- Strand diameter: 13-17 μm
- Material: E-glass or S-glass (optional)
- Resin compatibility: Polyester, epoxy, and other common resins
- Temperature resistance: Up to 150°C
Benefits:
- High Mechanical Strength: The P20 mat's high-strength chopped strands provide excellent mechanical properties, including tensile strength, impact resistance, and durability.
- Improved Wet-Out: The emulsion-based process enables excellent wet-out properties, resulting in faster production times and improved composite quality.
- Good Balance between Weight and Strength: The P20 mat's medium areal weight makes it suitable for applications where a balance between weight and mechanical strength is required.
- Cost-Effective: The P20 mat is a cost-effective solution for composite materials manufacturing, offering a competitive advantage in various industries.
Applications:
- Automotive: Body panels, spoilers, dashboards, and other interior components.
- Aerospace: Aircraft interior parts, such as seat components, paneling, and luggage racks.
- Marine: Boat hulls, decks, and other structural components.
- Wind Energy: Turbine blades, hubs, and other structural components.
- Construction: Building insulation, roofing, and other structural components.
Comparison to Other Products:
The Emulsion Chopped Strand Mats P20 is similar to the E10 mat, but with a higher areal weight and slightly higher mechanical strength. It is also similar to the E20 mat, but with a lower areal weight and slightly lower mechanical strength.
Product Features
- Soft mat, ease of manual tearing apart
- good conformability
- Good wet-through and fast wet-out in resinsLow resin consumption
