• Glass Fiber Knitted Felt (Stitched Felt / Glass Fiber Nonwoven Mat)

Glass Fiber Knitted Felt (Stitched Felt / Glass Fiber Nonwoven Mat)

Glass Fiber Knitted Felt is a nonwoven reinforcement material made by mechanically knitting chopped glass fibers into a soft yet structurally stable fabric using a polyester knitting yarn. Unlike traditional chopped strand mats (CSM), which rely on chemical binders to hold the fibers together, knitted felt is binder-free, offering excellent flexibility, drapability, and enhanced compatibility with various resin systems such as polyester, vinyl ester, epoxy, and phenolic.

Product performance introduction

Knitted felt is composed of short-length E-glass fibers (usually 50 mm or 100 mm) arranged in a random orientation and knitted in a lightweight, open-loop structure, providing uniform fiber distribution, excellent conformability to complex molds, and fast resin wet-out. It is especially favored for hand lay-up, vacuum infusion, RTM, and spray-up applications in marine, automotive, building, and industrial components.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Binder-Free Construction

Eliminates chemical binders, improving resin wet-out and environmental safety (VOC-free).

  • Superior Conformability

Highly flexible and drapable; ideal for complex contours and curved mold surfaces.

  • Even Fiber Distribution

Ensures mechanical consistency and optimal load transfer across the laminate.

  • Excellent Resin Penetration

Open structure allows fast resin flow, minimizing dry spots and air entrapment.

  • Multi-Process Compatibility

Suitable for RTM, vacuum infusion, spray-up, compression molding, and hand lay-up.

  • Improved Laminate Finish

Soft surface structure reduces print-through and supports smooth finishing.

  • Lightweight with Good Loft

Maintains a low weight-to-strength ratio with added insulation benefits.
